Testimonials from Our Teachers

In the DCL study, effective practitioner-researcher collaboration is one of our focuses. We strive to support teaching and implementation through prompt researcher-practitioner communication and problem-solving, but also to develop the curricula for more diverse student groups through instant feedback and iterative improvement.

"At the beginning, they were struggling, they were asking 'How do I write?' Now they are able to put their thoughts out. And for some of them, it's like 'I have more to write' even in the time that we gave them. I have seen a huge increase in impact on students' both empathetic-wise and being able to express their opinions, and see different viewpoints. It's a great experience so far!"

"We are giving them a voice that they can use to talk about what they are learning and by discussing multiple perspectives and giving them time to have these deeper conversations. We are developing confidence in these kids and allowing them to be a changing force not just in our school, but also throughout the community as a whole."

"The curriculum encouraged my students to listen with kindness, to support their answers with listening, and most importantly, to disagree with their peers respectfully. My students were so excited to start each day's lesson, and the curriculum was fabulous."

"Units that were taught to my students provided them with rich opportunities to learn about not only social studies content, but also apply it to the real world. They learned incredible speaking skills, along with listening to their peers and what their peers had to say.
